Carlsbad By The Sea was beautiful. It was by the sea, which is nice and cool, so I could go outside. The grounds were beautiful, but the entrance fee was too expensive. The staff was fine. They didn't have studio apartments. They have 1-bedrooms with a living rooms and kitchens. They're like full-fledged apartments.

I was down at Carlsbad By The Sea. It was very nice, but the cost was quite high and beyond my friend's means. It was not as friendly and as personable as we found at the other community. Well, Carlsbad By The Sea was very well done. It was very nice and very accommodating. What interests my friend was the fact that they would take you out for a ride, they would take you to the store, and they would take you to your personal doctor. The dining area was excellent. It was very good.

At Carlsbad by the Sea, they had all sorts of activities. They had classes, arts classes, and discussions. They had transportation to take people around if they need to go shopping, or go to the doctor and they're not driving. The room were very nice. We're looking at a beachfront property and it was expensive.

Carlsbad by the Sea was a very beautiful looking facility. It was clean and well maintained. It was like living in a beautiful luxurious apartment building. It was situated in a very nice community. They had a full program for activities. They had a pool and a hobby room. The people that we spoke with were very knowledgeable and helpful. However, they don't have a memory care unit and they had nothing for people who had dementia. But I would recommend it to people especially to those who wanted to live in a cooler ocean atmosphere.

The place is beautiful, the ocean is literally right there. As soon as you walk in you notice how clean it is and how beautiful. Theres people of all ages i believe its 55 and up. And they looked happy unlike other places we looked. It didnt look like they were being caged inside the whole time. We viewed the rooms which were beautiful lots of space and a big bathroom. We also toured the kitchen seemed like it had pretty good food for a retirement home. All the staff was super nice which was great made us feel very welcome. However there was one small down fall. Because it was sooo nice it was on the expensive side so we chose not to go there. Basically you get what you pay for.

My 90 year old grandmother has lived at Carlsbad by the Sea since the facility opened nearly two decades ago. She enjoys living there for a wide variety of reasons. Her apartment is nice, and offers her a personal space surrounded by her own familiar belongings, even in an assisted living situation. The location near the beach is beautiful, and she is walking distance from restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. She often uses the shuttle service for further trips. The staff, from the nurses, to the receptionists, to the dining room servers, are all very kind. They know my grandmother's name, and remember her preferences from day to day. They welcome visiting family members, and put together impressive buffets for holidays. The food is healthy and delicious. Residents have the option of dining in their apartments, or in the well-appointed dining room with a full service staff. A wide variety of enrichment activities are offered, and my grandmother enjoys telling us about the many activities that she participates in with her friends and neighbors. We have not had any major issues with the facility in the entirety of the time that she has resided there.
