About This Community

Imagine being at home in one of the world?s most spectacular settings. Welcome to Casa de Manana Retirement Community in beautiful La Jolla, the jewel of the Southern California coastline. Bask in breathtaking scenery, watch seals play in the gentle surf, wander through a quaint village, and socialize with friends from across the globe. Enjoy upscale but comfortable living on the magnificent Pacific Ocean, with an entire world of culture, recreation and learning right next door.

Rich in tradition, bathed in breathtaking beauty, and full of inimitable Southern California style -- our oceanside retirement community is one of the most spectacular spots on the entire California coastline, a charmed piece of earth where the view changes daily.

Complementing our campus is the same classic Spanish architecture that first dazzled visitors 80 years ago. But most importantly, it?s our friendly, highly individual service philosophy that gets the biggest rave reviews. Casa de Manana has been named ?Best Retirement Community? four years in a row by The San Diego Union Tribune, ?Best Retirement Community? eight years in a row by the readers of La Jolla Light, and twice by Ranch & Coast magazine.

Climate ... culture ... comfort ... and the Pacific Ocean right outside your door. That's the Casa de Manana difference.

Casa de Mañana Retirement Community is nicely converted, but it's old. We had lunch there when we visited. It's right by the sea, which is beautiful. But for the amount of money that you're paying, my father didn't like that the apartments have big windows with the air-conditioning coming out of it. It's not aesthetically pleasing. It's an old hotel from like 1904, so it's a little more dated, although there's also newer buildings. But it's hot and we went there on a hot day, so we were like, "Really?" They're under Front Porch Community, and they go on outings with the residents from their sister community, which is nice. The dining room was nice, and you're literally across the street from the ocean to the dining room, so it's beautiful. We had a great sit-down meal for lunch and it was fabulous, the meals were yummy, and there's quite a variety on the menu. The staff bends over backwards to meet our needs and they answered our questions. They have this little medallion that the residents have around their wrist or neck, and you can push it if you fall.
