I didn’t like St. Francis at all; it was claustrophobic. It was mostly for Catholic people, and I’m not. They had about 50 or 60 people and an exercise room. I don’t have anything common with those people; they’re all decrepit. I am old, but I can play golf and dance, and these people there are not like that. They have a place where they do exercises and a room where they do artwork. They have big TV rooms.
They have a lot gardens and outdoor patios where people could spend time, a lot of places to walk around. It’s in a very nice neighborhood and very nice area. The rooms were small and crowded.

St. Francis Home is quiet and clean. They cared for my Grandmother for a few years after she became unable to live on her own. She loved it and she loved the Sisters (Franciscan Nuns) who cared for her. The staff was wonderful and we loved that they offered a daily Mass for the women who lived at the home. There were socials available, and if someone didn't want to attend a meal the Sisters would bring it to her. Even as she aged and got dementia, the staff cared for her. When my Grandmother decided she no longer wanted to live there (as most elderly do) the staff supported her and cared for her with no ill treatment. When she became ill the Sisters cared for her and stayed by her side. She was not sent away to hospice, but rather was loved and nurtured in the home she had been accustomed to (although once she was too ill to be cared for at the home she had to be moved). Not only did the staff care for those who lived there, but they took the time to learn the names and faces of common visitors. I truly believe the staff cares for the women they live with as well as their families.
