My mom is at Healthy Life Residential Care, and it's been excellent. She has dementia, so I was very fearful about putting her anywhere, but because of this dementia and because it's a home, she just thinks she's at home. It's a house that's been converted, and they only hold a maximum of six patients at a time. They have a caregiver there 24/7, and everything has worked out really well. She's in a shared room, but I think that's what brings the cost down. She definitely needs full-on care. She needs care going to the bathroom, getting dressed, eating, bathing, and the whole nine yards. I visited her, and she said, "Come on in, sit down," like she's just at home. They adapted very well to her. There are a male and female caregiver, and she calls them by her children's names, she really doesn't know the difference. Everybody's been very good with her and with us, too. They let us come and visit. The day I put her in there, they were starting their COVID shots, so she got her shots. I got there on a perfect day, so I'm very pleased. It was also very affordable. In all the other places, they first want to know how much money she has, if she has any insurance, or if she has any stocks or bonds, and they go straight for the money. Going to a boarding home just ended up being the most cost effective, and nobody ever suggested that to me before.
