Everything about Sunrise of West Hills was above and beyond. They were amazing. They had everything you need. They had all of the courtyard, a wraparound porch, and the activities. We tried the food there and it was delicious. They had lots of options. The staff was great and they had beautiful accommodations. The dining area was very nice. The only thing was they had a high price point.

Sunrise of West Hills was very nice. It was a little larger community and I wanted something a little smaller for my dad. It was very open and they had nice grounds. It seemed like they had ample parking and a lot of nice seating areas there for the residents. The rooms were good. They have bingo and a walking club. They had a room set up for families to FaceTime on a big TV. They were all very nice and welcoming.

Sunrise of West Hills was a bit smaller than others, but it's definitely more of a high-end facility. If somebody has the funds to be able to move there, that would be the place to go. They have memory care on one side and assisted living on the other side. The staff member was friendly, and they have nice activities for them there. The food looked very good. The price was quite steep, but everything was very clean and kept up.

Sunrise of West Hills has a nice layout and dining area. Everything seems pretty reasonable, and we like it. The rooms are a good size and there's a variety. The staff member was also great, nice, and welcoming.

I was treated very well at Sunrise. The facility is small. They walked me around, showed me the rooms, and I really appreciated that Tom, the sales person, gave me a list of transport to take my mom to the emergency room. They were very nice and had planned activities for the residents.

Sunrise of West Hills was really nice. They had a dog, which was really cool. It was really nice and had super-friendly staff. The memory care unit was really nice, too. It wasn’t like a dark cellar where they keep the loonies. It was really friendly, really bright, and very nice. The rooms that I saw were like suites. They did show me one that was a little crowded where they said they could fit more people. I thought it was a little too cramped, but the space itself and the dining area was nice. I don’t think it would be easy for someone to wander out because they have to go past the lobby where someone is at the desk.

Sunrise of West Hills was nice but older. It had all the same facilities as other places, and the people were really nice, but it was on Topanga, which is a really busy street. Everything was nice, but it was an older facility. They had all kinds of rooms including one-bedrooms and singles., memory care, and a lot of amenities, too. I only met the lady who gave us the tour and she was really nice. I give it four stars only because I was looking for something that was in a more residential area and on less of a busy street. For people who are not going to walk or be out and about, then that’s not an issue. It was only an issue to me because my parents like to walk.

We visited Sunrise of West Hills for my aunt. I like the size of it better than the other facility we visited. The food might have been a little better there, though. However, the size of the individual rooms was slightly larger.

The facility itself is clean and presents a home like feel. This staff is nice and seem to interact positively with the residents, trying to make a personal connection. The restaurant style dining is a plus. Where they fall short is the upper management staff talks a good talk but the people doing the care giving seem to be a high rate of turn over - so their training and care seems to be more babysitting quality rather than professional. Once you are in there - requests take quite some time to get done. Parking is also limited unless you park on Topanga Canyon Blvd.

We visited Sunrise. It’s very respectful and provides care and safety to the residents. We like the way it does not look at all like a facility or an institution or a hospital; it looks more like a hotel or a residence. We like the fact that they assign 2 or 3 different caregivers to the person so that they can get to know them, not just whatever caregiver happens to be on duty that day. We like the way the dining room is more like a restaurant; it’s not like a cafeteria or a dining room. We like the way the resident can choose from a menu, and food is served by a server.

I liked Sunrise because it was a smaller facility. The bedrooms are small; they’re probably 300 sq. ft. to 400 sq. ft. You didn’t have to walk far to get to any of the restaurants. That’s what I liked about it. It was small, it was homey, and it was clean. All the residents were friendly, and it wasn’t so overly large that you got lost in the whole building.

Sunrise West Hills is where we ended up putting my mom. We like the setting. There are a lot trees, a large garden, and a large grassy area. I have tried the food. Some of it is pretty good, some of it not so good. Most of the caregivers are very nice, the nurses are very nice, and they're very open and they discuss stuff with you. The administrative staff to me is a little bit condescending. Sometimes I kind of feel like it's only about how much money we can spend. They'll put in one kind of service and then determine that she doesn't need it anymore. It's a constant turnover and a constant charge rather than just letting her be. They have animals on-site that live there and are there for the residents, which is really nice.

I wasn’t really thrilled with Sunrise of West Hills. The facility seemed nice, but there was not a big area for them to get outside. At the time of the visit, they didn’t have a room that they could show me. The restaurant was very nice, and I liked the menu. It looked really nice.
