My tour at West Valley was good. The apartments were sufficiently spacious and the living atmosphere was comfortable. It's a pretty basic place for people that are more ambulatory and who require less care. There aren't any amenities, they provide very minimal care. The person who works at the front office was very nice, but I didn't see any other staff. It seemed to be affordably-priced and good for someone who's on a budget and doesn't require a lot of care.

We didn't like West Valley Assisted Living at all because we got a bad feeling from the staff. It wasn't as good as the other ones we saw, either. There were a lot of people waiting in the lobby, and the reception staff didn't seem to be on top of it. We stood there for a long time before anybody said anything. When they called for the manager to come and take us on a tour, we had to wait for quite a while before he came in.

West Valley has been so caring and accommodating to my mom. They have recently updated the inside and are still making improvements. The administrator and staff have been awesome and I highly recommend West Valley Assisted Living.

West Hills Retirement Center impressed me because it fit into the very strict financial parameters we provided. None of the other communities did or had any space that would accommodate my mother’s needs at the time. The staff seems very friendly and very caring. I know she enjoys listening when one of the residents plays an instrument. She does not like the food; when I come and visit her, she wants to go eat somewhere else. To me, it sounds like plans are in place to freshen and clean things up and make sure that they have good amenities. They’re remodeling and as a work in progress, I see they’re moving in the right direction.
