My mother has moved into Almond Heights Senior Living. We chose it because of the location. It seemed very clean and well run. They have a great chef. The staff I've dealt with were very professional and very helpful. We ate there, and the food was very good. There are lots of options for activities, but she declines most of them. It's always very clean. There's always friendly staff everywhere. So far, so good. I think all senior living is overpriced, but when you compare it to others, it's fair.

Where do you put a family member who is getting older and can’t live alone? This happened to our family with our 93-year-old mother. We looked all over the area, near where we lived. After looking at Almond Heights Senior Living at 8685 Greenback Lane in Orangevale we decided to place my mom in their memory care unit. She was there for six months before passing and we could not have asked for a better facility, location, and staff. They assisted us above and beyond what we expected. They always had our mother’s best interest at heart. If you are looking for a facility our Family would recommend Almond Heights. Robert D. Bailey, on behalf of our whole family.

My parents are in Almond Heights Senior Living at the moment. They're doing fine there. The staff seems very nice and very friendly. Their room is actually a decent size for a studio. It's probably 700 or 800 square feet. Because it was a last-minute thing that they got in on, they didn't get a choice on what room they got. They have classes on a daily basis in the exercise room, and they have puzzle classes and things. They don't go to all of these things, but they are available. There's a lot more stuff available than they actually go to, but that's mostly because of my dad's inability to participate. He has started to go into more and more of the physical stuff. They have movie night, too. However, every time they have a positive Covid case, they lock down for two weeks and nobody can go anywhere. There are plenty of activities available. They have a walking group, they have a puzzle, they have a library, they have a movie area, and they have a garden. It's essentially a large eight. It's got a central hallway connecting the two-side hallways. You have the front entrance, and the dining area is in the right when you walk in. The library is directly upstairs from that. All the big stuff are towards the front. They have the church, the smaller offices, and the hairdresser and stuff in the middle hallway. They have a memory section at the back of the building, you don't walk through it, but you can access it from the front half of the building and the back of the building separately. It's a separate portion of the facility. They allow the people to do what they want as far as decorating their front door. The room doesn't have a stove, it just has a microwave and a fridge, but it's a decent sized room. If they wanted to bring their own stuff in aside from whatever is provided for them, they could. Cupboards are not allowed obviously, because you don't need a lot of cupboards in the kitchen. All the space is pretty decent. The one my parents are in is a studio, so there's no separation between the living room and the bedroom portion. But the bathroom is large enough to get the wheelchair in and out of and be able to maneuver around somebody in a wheelchair while you're in there. They're comfortable. We like that it's a more active place than some of the other places that we toured when we toured them. They have a lot of opportunities for people to do things, they just have to take advantage of them. My parents are just now starting to take advantage of some of it because my mom's tired of just sitting around. I have tried the food and generally it's good. I'm not familiar with the menu process, but they had an opportunity to pick what they wanted to have for the next day. They give them a few options to pick from, and then they can pick from those things. It's very clean. It's laid out pretty intelligently. It's a large oval on both ends with the memory care being in the end of the oval. For the residents, it's laid out pretty well. Everything important is towards the front and the middle. It's not really a long way to get to anywhere. Overall, it's very nice. There are just a few things. The only thing that was inconsistent was the food. My mom said something about 9 out of 10, it's pretty good, and the other times it's just a sandwich. But they were stuck inside the room two or three times for two weeks at a time because of COVID. If you took the COVID out of it, there would be less complaints about the food.

The tour at Almond Heights Senior Living was a really good experience. The staff who accommodated us was great, very professional, and very informative of all the different options that they offer. It was a very welcoming experience. The community layout was nice. It had very open cathedral ceilings and it just made it feel like that it was larger than what it probably was. There are lots of places for people to gather together. They baked cookies that I could take home with me, and it was great. I saw two of the rooms, both of them were beautiful rooms and very roomy. I looked at a 2-bedroom, 2-bath, and it was wonderful. It would have been perfect for my parents, very clean and very new.

Almond Heights Senior Living was excellent. I felt super good just walking in there; it was wonderful. The rooms were wonderful. I like how the people greeted me. I've talked to Brianna, who works in there, several times; she was wonderful, and she explained everything to me. I just liked how clean it was. Of course, it was not a newer facility, but it has been remodeled. It was just pleasant. I love the fact that the people were not in their rooms, they were in the entry where I came in. All the women were just talking and just having conversations, which was wonderful. I love that. We did not really talk much about the amenities and activities because we're talking mostly about my aunt's situation and what I was looking for for her. I picked her up in a memory care facility in Hemet which I really was disappointed in. I was so happy to get her out of there. Coming from that situation and looking at what we had up here in Northern California, it was a lot better. I would have to go back a few more times to see more but I was very impressed by what I saw.

Almond Heights Senior Living was the best of all the places I visited. I liked everything about it. It felt almost like a resort. The staff was extremely helpful, and they sincerely care about their residents. The dining area was really nice. They have a hair salon.

We visited Almond Heights twice. The girl who took us around missed the point of the visit, which was to give my mom confidence that she was going to have a life after moving in there. My mom wasn’t really impressed, so overall our experience was not good, because there was no interaction with the residents. The food was awful.

Almond Heights was too expensive for the same provisions that I got where I stayed. The people were very friendly, the staff was very caring, and the building was well lit. It was like on top of a low hill, but I didn't like that the dining room was right in the entrance. It had a small lobby and the offices were just cramped together on the left side, and on the right side was the dining hall. We were going back and forth on if they could give us a good deal or a special, but they stood so firm. They refused to and when I finally decided to go to the other place, they called me and said they were willing to work with me, but they were too late. However, the staff was very informative, and very courteous. They had painting classes, yoga, theater, and morning exercises.

This is a beautiful building and the people that work there are wonderful. My aunt lives there and she is very happy. Everyone is kind and loving. They treat my aunt like she was their own Grandmother. I love to visit. There are always fun things going on. I’ve eaten with my Aunt several times and the food is really good. I hope there is a place like this when it’s time for me to need a little help

This care unit does an outstanding job of caring for my wife. The caretakers care for residents as if they were their own family. They really care for you with love. God bless them all.

Kind, warm team members greeted me and directed me to a beautiful courtyard where music was playing. Residents were involved, smiling and laughing. There were tables with great foods and drinks. My visit was a wonderful experience and I am looking forward to visiting again soon.

Beautiful building, wonderful caring staff! My grandma has lived here for nearly two years and we have had wonderful experiences since day one!

Inquired about pricing and availability on the phone. The receptionist couldn't/wouldn't tell me anything, not even basic information. Immediately switched me to their marketing department who asked more questions than answered. I felt like I was buying a used car. She sounded like a kid and kept asking me to come tour even though I told her I was not from the area. I decided to tour when I came into the area only to have to wait for 30minutes while all if the directors were eating lunch together. I finally just left. Beautiful building but a little like a clown house.

As a family member of a resident at Almond Heights, I'm not sure we made the right decision. My mom says that most of the key leadership is no longer there and have been replaced by people who don't act like they care. Mom has a group of friends and one of them was told that she can leave when she wants! My mom's other complaint is that there are activities but not very many that are fun and entertaining. Mom is pretty independent, but her friend said she had to wait for almost an hour for someone to respond when she buzzed for help. When someone finally came, the girl said that two people had called off. This seems to happen a lot. No staff stability in the higher ups or the caregivers. Too bad the building is so pretty but the staff is bringing it down.

My husband and I came directly from Syracuse, NY and were the very first residents to move in. It was September 2015. There are many options for senior living in this area, but I'm so glad my daughter chose Almond Heights. I've loved it from the moment I walked in. Love everything about it and would never consider living anywhere else.

Today it snowed in the mountains while we had perfect weather and enjoyed our outdoor concert and wonderful snacks prepared by our great chef. A good time was had by all. The music was excellent. And the staff attended to our every need. I'm lucky to be a resident of such a caring community. They really try to make us residents happy

I feel this place is amazing. Very friendly, family environment. We've lived here for over a year and the staff really tries to make us happy. Chef Karla tries hard to please everyone and is always open to suggestions by the residents.

Dinners are very sad dried out over cooked chicken or dried out pork, or dried out beef. Cover it with tasteless gravy and maybe no one will notice. Hardly any activities and no bus trips. If your loved one lives there long don't expect the video chair excercises to help. Plug in the video and recede to the office no supervision and no leg work. Keep looking you haven't found the place for your loved one yet.
