My mom has moved into Almond Grove Assisted Living. We took a tour, and we liked their staff. Everyone seemed very caring. The fact that they had medication management that was all- inclusive of the monthly rent was a big thing because everywhere else we looked that was separate. It was like 500 or $600 separate from the rent. The cost was also a factor. It was a lot lower than a lot of the other assisted living places we looked at, so that was good. And the fact that they had med techs and caregivers. When we toured it, the residents there said that they liked it and they gave us feedback that the staff seemed to care about them and care about their well-being, so that was a big plus. It was a smaller facility, too. We didn't want anything too big for my mom because she tends to get lost in the crowd. They have about 40 residents, which is fine. I think those are the main factors for choosing Almond Grove. My mom is there for assisted living. She doesn't have any memory issues. She is diabetic, so she takes insulin shots, and has a special diabetic diet. She needs more care than we can give her. We have a two-story and she can't go up and down stairs anymore. She's a fall risk. They're just one story and that was a big plus that she didn't have to go up and down stairs or up and down escalators, or anything like that. I think their staff is really good. I haven't tried the food. But the first night we were there, they had a cheese and ham bake, and it didn't look great. The menu is good, but I have to see the food more. They keep the community very clean. They take pride in making sure that they're checking the resident's rooms to make sure that things don't get out of hand like if people start hoarding or keeping food and keeping things that they shouldn't. The facility is a little bit older facility but as long as they keep it fine, I'm fine with it. They have an activities director, and they have activities for the residents. Value for money is pretty great, too.

My mother-in-law went to live here about 2 months ago. She is 92 and she was not thrilled with the prospect of leaving her home and going to an assisted living facility, but Within a week or so, whenever we came to visit, which was about every other day, she was busy with some group activity. She is very happy here now and looks better than she has in a long time. All of the staff is very friendly and helpful. The facility is clean and there are tons of activities. I am so glad we found this place for her.

This is a wonderful place. It’s not brand new, but the place is comfortable and the staff is as nice as can be; they were very attentive to the people who were there. The room is like a studio. I did eat there, and the food was very good.
