Folsom Comfort Care home became a life saver for our family. My mom spent over 2 years here before passing away. Lina, the owner is passionate about seniors and has managed this home over 10 years. She helped us navigate changes in our mom like signs the caregiver was seeing about an infection brewing or gently offering her advise on my moms needs. She planned Christmas gatherings for all the families to come together for a meal. The caregivers in the home are meticulous about every detail of the residents. For example, what they like to eat, making sure they are bathed, dressed and taking care of any needs they have. They prepare home cooked meals 3 times per day. It is a really nice schedule for residents who have dementia issues. Routines are kept. The home is beautiful inside with lovely furnishings. You can choose to bring your own furniture but we did not. The backyard is a nice place to visit with your loved one. I highly recommend taking a look at this home if you have a loved one that needs care.

I visited lots of places before I put my mother in Folsom Comfort Care. They provide very good care and are very conscientious about checking her skin and everything. They aren’t nurses, but our hospice now is sending a nurse a couple of times a week; they’re just caregivers there. The facility is in a home in an actual residential area, so all they provide is a caregiver and room and board. She’s in need of more advanced care at this point. She might have benefitted more from being in a memory care place, but it’s a lot more expensive, and they’re doing a good job of taking care of her here. This place doesn’t have any kind of activity or really much to stimulate them, but she’s beyond that point now anyway. They feed them very well with homemade food every day.

Folsom Comfort Care Home was a tract home where they put elderly people in the rooms. The lady who owned it was very nice and convinced me that it was a good place. It was clean. She said she had five staff and they only had five people there and my mother would be the sixth. So, I said: "Well, that's enough people" and there was somebody there day and night. However, they only had one person at that time there and that person didn't speak English very well. They were from Russia or Ukraine. My mother was terribly unhappy there. For one thing, she felt she's in somebody else's house and she never felt comfortable. She also kept falling there because she could not stand on her leg and her brain won't let her understand certain things. One of the caregivers got upset when she got up on the middle of the night and fell. She had to have stitches on her head but they never called and told me. I only found out because I had an appointed to take her to the dentist. They were not nurses so they didn't understand that a person who fell and had a head injury, had to be brought to the hospital and had them checked out. When I got there in the morning, I saw the blood all across her forehead. Then, they told me what happened and that they didn't call me or take her to the doctor. Then she had a fall again. The food was terrible and wasn't nutritious enough. I went there to visit my mom and I saw them opening a can of Campbell's soup and I don’t even use that soup because it was too salty. The people looked happy and cared for, but my mother acted up. I was actually advised by the physical therapist, and the nurse who came for her, per her doctor's orders, they were to uphold the care that she was getting two or three times a week. They repeated called me and told me to take her out of there. They told me it was not the place for her.
