My mom is in Whittier Place in Whittier. It's assisted living and memory care. She's in their assisted living. What she likes best is the facility's ambiance. It's modern-looking and very updated all the time. She likes the white walls, and the setting is lovely. Because of Covid, they had a little dip due to lack of staffing; but now they're coming up to par, and things are running smoothly and efficiently. I would have to say that at this point because things are running smoothly, they've been excellent. It's just that the condition of my mother changed, and her memory loss is not getting better. They have memory care there, but we weren't quite happy when we did see it. I would need to review, go back there again, and see what it's like. We're maintaining my mother in their assisted living with help coming in for her. The hospice comes in and showers her two days of the week. The activities were good, but she's a recluse and trying to get her out of her room is very difficult. The food has always been an issue because most of the 90-year-olds there wear dentures, and they don't have implants. So unfortunately, they struggle with the amount and texture of their food. If you get a sandwich, it's a hunk of bread, so it's hard to chew or bite on it. The meat could be a little tender too. Sometimes they do work on it, sometimes they don't. I've tried their food. Sometimes I like it, but my mom doesn't. You can't always gear it or customize it. Whatever they serve, that's what's been given. They don't have very many options. Finally, they're on board these last two weeks on activities. During the COVID, it was absolutely zilch. Now that things have opened up because COVID has left, I had to give them that kind of credit for it. For the active ones, they have bingo. It used to be a lot more active, like they had exercise programs every morning, music two or three times a week, galas, and stuff. Now they're just barely starting back in, and it's very minimal. The activities are usually in the afternoon from 1:30 to 5:30. There are no morning activities like they used to have. My mom has a lovely room. It looks out to the patio. They upkeep it well, and she likes it. I think their pricing is reasonable. I haven't ventured the amount for memory care yet, but in assisted living it's been OK.

I liked Whittier Place. We looked at both assisted living and memory care. It appeared to be a smaller community. It didn't feel huge like the others. What I didn't like was they have this point system of how they determine what the price is gonna be for care (i.e., so many points for a bath, so many points for taking her to the dining room). With my mom, they have to evaluate the points. They can't evaluate the points until after you committed to them that you're gonna go there. They would say the rent's gonna be $2,500 a month and the points depend on what you're mom actually needs. They couldn't tell me that upfront, partly because my mom is very unstable. She had to rely on them for everything, but they couldn't tell me if that's gonna be an extra $500 or an extra $5,000 a month. We looked at that place for my mom two years ago. We had a meal there, and it was good. I was fine with the place. It's just I couldn't get pricing out of them. Their amenities were not as plentiful as the others, and they didn't really show us the activities on the tour. The staff was relatively new, and didn't know everything that she should've known in my opinion. It was still OK. I remember asking her, "Can you have a coffee pot or a rice cooker in the room?" She said she didn't know. She was nice, but she was the one that really had trouble trying to give me a price. She said, "We're switching our plans, and we're using a point system." She said, "We just had somebody who just moved in and their price is..." I thought I can't base it on what somebody else is paying because they could be in a totally different situation than my mom.

Whittier Place was awesome. I loved it. The rooms were very nice, and they were really good with us. The residents were doing some exercises in their wheelchairs, and the staff was very kind and helpful. They had a library, a very nice outside room, a TV room, a main room, and a room where they eat that's cafe style. It had very nice decor and looked very friendly.

I really like it here. The staff is great, especially Monica. They really take good care of my mom, Lily. I can sleep good at night knowing she's safe. Also, the food is very good!

My mom is at Whittier Place since March. It is a very clean place. The staff is very caring, and the patients are well taken care of. They have plenty of caregivers that help with the bathroom, the showers, and everyday needs. My mom can feed herself but she can't shower or dress, so they do all of that for her. I would put her there again if I have to choose again. They have activities every day and everything to keep the residents entertained and busy. The food looks very good. There are two main entrees, three meals a day plus snack. The apartment is a large room my mom shares with another lady. They share a bathroom, but they have their own space for their own belongings and their own closets. They had an activity yesterday for Mother's Day. A lady played a lot of old songs and tried to get the people involved.

Whittier Place was very nice and very clean. It looked like they have plenty of staff on-hand too. They were very nice. They gave us a muffin and coffee, which tasted very good.

We put my mother into Whittier Place two months ago. She is doing fine. They have plenty of staff always around and taking care of their needs. They feed them very well. Their meals are really top notch. The place is very well built. The bedrooms are spacious. I really cannot complain, although I wish they had a suggestion box. Other than that, I think the place is well run.

Whittier Place Senior Living looked like a very nice, clean, welcoming, and friendly place. Mom is looking forward to living there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They had card playing activities and off-site activities. The staff was very knowledgeable about their population. The room was spacious and very clean.

Everything was great at Whittier Place; I liked everything about it. They have a memory care ward that was very clean, and it was nice inside and outside, as well. They provided activities for the residents.

Whittier Place was excellent; it was very open and bright. There were a lot of activities available. The residents seemed more mobile and would be an appropriate company for my grandmother.

They are very compassionate and very patient at Whittier Place Senior Living. The place is beautiful, well kept, and neat. They have been taking really good care of my mom. They have done so well that her health has improved a hundred percent. I highly recommend the place. The director is amazing.

It looked very clean, but it was significantly more institutional looking than the other places. It was nice, clean, and comfortable, but it was minimal in terms of size. The staff were helpful. They had a very basic menu that didn't look very appetizing, and they didn't seem to have much snack in between except like a bowl of fruits. For activities, they did have a church service on Sunday. I went into a two-bedroom, and it looked quite spacious. It had an entry area that is like a waiting room and two pretty large bedrooms. I would recommend Whittier Place if you don't want to eat gourmet food and because it's got a nice price range. The dining area had a nice big glass wall, so it had a lot of light, but it was on the smaller side. It was pretty, but the chairs were a little more industrial and hard, so they didn't look comfortable.

When I went to Whittier Place Senior living, it wasn't completely constructed. They just showed me partial of it. I saw a few rooms, and they were very small. They were like studio rooms and were more like a hotel. The bathroom had no tub; it was like a walk-in shower with a toilet. It had a small closet. The bedroom was big, but there was no living room. They also had 2 bedroom. It was very expensive, but it brand new. I would like to go back when it was completed. They had a laundry room and a beauty shop, but they were not yet active.

My mom is in the memory care unit of Whittier Place. She moved in two months ago. She’s being taken care of. There are some of the bumps in the road but all in all, it’s been a good place. She is in a shared room because she’s in the memory care wing. They’ve been very helpful and supportive. It seemed that they have a fair amount of stuff going on. I think they really do a good job.

I visited Whittier Place, and it was nice. It was decorated well, and it looked homey. The rooms were very nice. The activities were about the same as other places. However, it was more expensive.

My husband stayed at Whittier Place two or three times for respite care. It was about four blocks from where he goes to adult day care. This facility is just lovely. The people there are very, very nice. They have a lot of activities. It you are looking for an assisted living this would be a great place to go. It was just a little out of my price range.

whittier place senior living is a nice facility.I would recommend it to anyone seeking to place loved ones in assissted living facility. When I was there in a month, I noticed that the staff members are wonderful and receptive. They all welcomed me well and with cheerful face showed me all around the building and the rooms. Out of five stars, I would rank the grounds a five common areas a five residents' rooms a five, staff a five, and the quality of care a five. Overall, I'd give whittier place senior living a rating of five stars because of the neatness. The facility is so clean that you hardly notice any dirt. All the caregivers wear uniform like you are in a hotel. The whole area smell so good and the residents are well taken care off. I so much like the dining area. Its so inviting. This is one of my best facilities.

We toured several facilities before placing my mother-in-law, and this is the one we chose; it's friendly, warm and has a home-y atmosphere while still providing excellent service and food (a few times we've shown up to visit around "snack time" and been treated to chocolate chip cookies just baked on-site). Another major plus is that the activities director integrates the assisted living and memory care patients as much as possible, so in no way do the memory care patients seem "institutionalized" as you see in some facilities. They also have a friendly housecat, Heather, who lives on-site.
