My sister moved into Sunrise of Santa Monica. The aides and nurses have been great there. The staff has been great there as far as her care and helping her. Everybody's been really great and very responsive to whatever she's asked for. The room is really pretty, very nice, and well kept up with everything, so that's the good stuff. However, when I moved my sister in, I noticed that they weren't doing very much about the virus. By the time she moved, Omicron had already started to get really bad. I just walked right by, and nobody was checking masks or anything. I noticed women playing cards around the dining room weren't wearing masks, or the people that live there. I kept asking and saying, "This is really serious." They just got it under control last week. I've been there myself for meals, and the food is inedible for a normal person. Some of the people that are older put up with it. About six or seven women there have been complaining. They've taken it to corporate, and nobody's done anything about it. I am one of the people that is now spending to have food from restaurants brought in all the time. Honestly, it's just not right. I don't know what they're doing, but I have photos of some of the stuff that is the most inedible looking stuff I've ever seen. It's a very expensive place to have really bad food. Every aid that I've talked to, and the receptionist even, said they don't eat the food here. I think they have a lot of activities.

My mom moved into Sunrise of Santa Monica. What I like most is the professionalism of the place. Everybody there seems to be very caring. Every time I've been there, they regularly check to see how my mom is doing (like they check the temperature). If she has any special needs, they check on that. It is good. The thing I like the least is that there are times when it seems that they seem to go through a lot of staff (not the key people, but the people who help out on the floor). Particularly in the dining area, they seem to be going through a lot of people. Sometimes they seem to be short staffed; but in general, they do a good job. I know that the people there are very busy and that they have a lot to do. It just seemed like because they have so many things going on at the same time, it is hard for them to really say I'm going to make sure that the food being asked for is being delivered in a timely manner. Sometimes it seems like that gets lost in the process. They do a good job; but because they have so many things that they're trying to do at the same time, things get left out.

We went to Sunrise of Santa Monica. We loved the staff. They seemed to be very responsive. At the time that we visited, they were a little more open, so we were able to tour the facility quite a bit. It's got wonderful grounds and a little garden or patio on two floors, so it was very, very nice. It was a big contender. The biggest drawback was the location. The staff was the reason that I decided that this was the right time to move mom into an assisted living. She really understood where I was coming from, and she was very, very supportive. If we live closer to Santa Monica, I would have chosen that one. I know they had a gameroom, a library, and small patios on some of the units, which would have been nice for mom.

Sunrise of Santa Monica was very nice and clean. It seemed to be a top notch place. It looked like a 5-star hotel and very impressive. The rooms were small but nice, and the staff was very friendly. The amenities were good, and they had several different areas for several different activities.

My wife is staying at Sunrise. The staff seemed sincere. The have something to do every morning and afternoon. The food seemed adequate. They have a beauty salon where you can get your nails and hair done.

I was very disappointed during my visit to the memory care unit. Residents were in the music activity. No one interacted with anyone else. No one spoke. The person in charge paid attention to only one person out of about 13.and appeared inexperienced with people with memory problems. The 13 i saw were mostly in wheel chairs and were out of it.

Sunrise of Santa Monica's accommodations were sparse, and it was on a busy street. It didn't have much outdoor area. The people who worked there didn't seem as experienced. In fact, before I went there, I was advised that the emphasis was on people with problems with memory loss and dementia, but the 2 girls who showed me around didn’t seem to be aware of that fact. They sounded to me like new employees with very little experience. The rooms were smaller, and cost-wise, they were comparable. It was clean but didn't appear that it was kept up as well.

I visited the Sunrise of Santa Monica. It’s fine; they play games. The room was a 1-bedroom, bright and it was all windows.

Sunrise is good. I like the fact that they are not just in California; they are also in Colorado and in many other states. We chose it because it is what my dad likes. It is like walking into a 5-star resort. The staff is very welcoming. They have too many activities to describe. They are pleasant, efficient, and welcoming.

Sunrise seemed to be a perfect fit and allowed the senior to have privacy and communication with others. It was very clean, and they were very friendly and seemed to really care. We saw the interaction as they were playing games, and it just seemed to be a perfect fit for my father in law

I went to Sunrise of Santa Monica. I talked to the manager who was very nice. I liked it a lot. I think it was nice and bright. They had an Alzheimer's unit, which made it very nice. The manager was delightful. I really liked him. Everybody I met was very friendly.

Sunrise was a little more ornate than the other facility I visited. It was very expensive. They had lots of food choices, and it was actually quite good. It was restaurant quality. We only saw one room, and it was very nicely decorated and spacious. The staff was extremely good. They had a lot of activities like chair yoga and music hours. It was very nice.

We also visited Sunrise. It wasn’t as nice as the other one we visited, but it was OK. The staff was fine. They were good and helpful. The dining room was fine, but we didn't try the food. They had activities and they were playing some kind of game.

The rooms at Sunrise were very small. It was very well decorated. It seemed like a lot of extracurricular activities for the residents. I saw the dining room. It was very nice, but I didn’t eat there. It was a gentleman who took me around. He was very informative, very friendly, and very nice.

We had a meal at Sunrise. The food was adequate, but the dining room was less elegant and was more industrial. The staff was all good and helpful. The place is not as elegant. The rooms were adequate. It's closer to the beach. It was fine and I liked it.

Sunrise of Santa Monica is too big and too expensive. It is in a safe environment but it is not what I want for my mother. Their staff is very nice and very professional. I would recommend this place if they can afford it.

My dad has been at Sunrise Senior Living for five years and I go there all the time. They have a pretty high rating and they're a very nice facility. They seem to have the same type of arrangement as the others, where they take the people out when they need to visit things, have a dining room and recreational activities. They have a court at the center of the place where people can sit around and walk in a little park area, which is very nice.

The amenities are incredibly clean; cleaner than any assisted living home (or similar establishment I have ever visited). Assisted living homes always have a certain smell that I've come to associate with the elderly, and this was no exception; however, the smell was considerably milder than anywhere else. The residents all appeared very happy, nobody was staring forlornly out the window or anything like that. I was able to see the calendar, which had a very elaborate and populated schedule of events for the residents, with a wide variety of activities. The staff appeared to be very friendly and genial. The neighborhood in Santa Monica is also a very nice location, though I am always somewhat averse to driving in Santa Monica due to traffic. In the main eating/dining room there's a piano that's actually kept in really nice condition, tuned and everything. My friends and I are pianists and we entertained the room for a bit, appears they're actually used to having performances here regularly.

They have excellent food, and the rooms are nicely done. Nursing are half skilled though.

For the most part, Sunrise Senior Living is a pleasant provider. The nurses are extremely thoughtful, immediately remembering each patient and their family after just their first time with them. With my uncle being there, we were really concerned about the drop off of the facilities from home, and while there is definitely a change, it is by no means bad. My uncle has a window with a great view of Santa Monica, and the breeze from the beach is quite lovely. The rooms are quite up to date and all of the televisions have plenty of cable stations. The staff works very hard to make it seem less like a facility and more like some kind of nice home. I gave it a 4 out of 5 for these reasons. The only 5 it is not a 5 is because I do not believe the assistance goes far enough in being proactive. I would like to see much more attention shown to helping people fight for their lives, as opposed to just making their last days pleasant. I know that is a personal choice, so its hard to hold that against them, but I have to anyway. Still, Sunrise Senior Living is a great place for assisted living.
