I was very impressed with Emerald Court. Everyone seemed happy and socially engaged. The staff were helpful, pleasant, and courteous. Their rooms seemed pretty much the same as the others, but the thing that struck me the most was when we got there at 4:00, they were all sitting around waiting for happy hour. So many people were out and about. People weren't shut in their rooms and that's what I liked to see, that they were socializing.

My overall experience at Emerald Court was wonderful. It was great. I met a whole bunch of people. They took time to talk to me. It was very nice. I looked at one room and it overlooked the parking lot, which I knew my mother wouldn't like. It was also on the second floor. I asked if they had a first floor and she said in 30 days they were going to have one. We went down, and it had a little atrium off the sliding glass door. When you come out the front door, you'll see a beautiful courtyard. They're going to remodel the room. They're very amenable, giving us a $2,000 moving cost, and I'm hoping my mother is going to like it. I met the chef who has been there for 27 years, and before I left he brought me two big, homemade cookies from the kitchen. Everything is pretty comparable because they have a menu that you could choose from. Most of the places have two entrees, but they only have one entree, and then you can pick something else from the menu like sandwiches, hamburgers, and stuff like that. Their dining room is pretty plain. I told my mother it wasn't as fancy as the one she's in. They're going to open up their dining room next week. Yesterday, when we were there, they were playing bingo separated with their masks on. At least they have some activities, which my mother is not getting right now.

Emerald Court was the first one that I went to, and it is one where I know a couple of people who are there and who are happy with it. I know they don’t have memory care because the one lady who is there from my church moved in with her husband, and it was just too much change for him. He was getting Alzheimer’s and had declined pretty rapidly, and she had to put him somewhere else because Emerald Court does not offer memory care. My aunt is a bit dingy, and I don’t know that she is going to need memory care, but it seemed like a good idea to put her somewhere they had it so that it would be less of a transition if she needed to go into it. I thought their apartments were really nice. They were clean, modern, and up-to-date, granite countertops, and there was a built-in bookcase. I did have lunch there, and the food was OK. The negative to me was if you needed to go from independent to assisted, then you’d have to move units.

We did visit Emerald Court, but we didn’t like it. The people were very nice, but it was not good. It was kind of old and outdated. It didn’t feel home-like. It’s too close to a neighborhood street, and I don't think it’s a good neighborhood. Also, they were actually $6000 a month, so they were even more than the other place. I was really disappointed in the pricing, and then their food was awful, but we ate it anyway. The people seemed happy, but they were drinking wine. My mom’s friend at church liked it, but my mom and I weren’t feeling it at all.

Compared to the other places that I looked at, Emerald Court has substantial storage with a walk-in closet, and the living room had a cabinet where people could put some of the nice things they brought from home. Emerald Court had crown molding in the rooms, it had ample storage, and actually had a better kitchenette than anybody that we saw, with a granite kitchen top and a full-size refrigerator. My mom’s been there for almost a year, and it truly is a very exceptional place. They take care and accommodate my mom very well. My mom doesn’t really go for activities, although they are offering her dog services with a charge, and she is doing some exercises in an exercise room. They have happy hours and entertainment about every three months where they’ll bring in a band combo or a chorus, so they do have constant activities happening there.

Emerald Court was very nice. It has easy access because they have two elevators. We had lunch there, and it was too much for us. They showed us an apartment and told us about all the activities they have -- such as bridge, all kinds of card games, karaoke once in awhile, and craft games. I was so impressed with this facility. When we are ready to move into a senior facility, we will be moving here.

My mom has greatly improved at Emerald Court. Her room is very charming and comfortable; they redid everything before she moved in. The staff is excellent. Overall, it’s a wonderful place, and I wouldn’t mind living there.

It was more lively. They had a lot more things going for people that were more active. The rooms were very nice, but they didn't have a room on the ground floor available, and my relative wanted the ground floor. The ones that we had looked at had pets. She has a little Chihuahua, and that was one of the things that we had to keep in mind when we were looking for a place. They had a lot of activities there, and they would have a movie night where family and friends could come; also, they were having a Hawaiian night. They were really outgoing at Emerald Court. We did not eat there, but it looked really good, and the dining area was very nice.

We have lived in Emerald Court for six years. The staff is very caring. The rooms are very large, and they are doing a lot of remodeling right now. The food is delicious. The dining room is clean, but it is not very spacious. They need more room because they are almost 90% full right now. They have pretty much anything you want for activities. They have games, a recreation center, and a wellness facility where we have different kinds of equipment to work out on. They have activities that they will take you to. As far as I can tell, everything is OK. The place is very welcoming.

My mom moved in 9 months ago. The improvement in her health is tremendous. She has made friends and is very active with activities, exercising, going places and attending programs. There is enough to do that she is not bored. She is happy and glad she made the move. Her 1 bedroom place fits her well and she loves the location. The staff is always helpful, they know the residents and go out of their way to be nice.

The staff were very friendly, thoughtful, and appeared to know all individuals who lived there on a first name basis. The staff also recognized family members who visited on a regular schedule. The food was good, and many opportunities for extra activities were provided. The only negative was that the rooms seemed to be slightly neglected. I am not sure how often the rooms were cleaned but more frequently would have been better.

This is a nice facility. They offer studios, one bedroom, and two bedroom places. The person I visited picked a one bedroom place, as she lives by herself but she likes to host guests so having the living room separate from the bedroom is nice. There are plenty of amenities inside the location, including a kitchen, bathroom, and climate control. When a resident doesn't want to be independent, they can also rely on the services at the facility. The facility has a dining hall, which can serve special-order meals; this is helpful, especially for patients that have special conditions like diabetes. The facility also has transportation service, so it's possible for residents to get to the hospital or the grocery store without inconveniencing their friends or family. Their are also personal assistants assigned to groups of individuals that will help with daily tasks such as making sure medication is taking at the right time and in the right dosage, the rooms are cleaned, etc. Overall, it seems like my congregation member and the other residents at this facility are very happy.

We went to visit the Emerald Court assisted living facility since we happened to be in the vicinity looking at other places to consider for our aunt. The grounds looked well tended and maintained, with plenty of nice shrubs, trees and places to sit to enjoy the outside. Some of the residents participate in the community gardens. The foyer was fresh and bright with very nice decorations and furniture. The common areas were nicely decorated and home-like. There were many places for residents to enjoy a variety of activities, from games to reading and seeing films and educational programs. Events and outings scheduled include anything you can imagine - from restaurants, to art museums, the library, which our uncle particularly enjoys, to local films and crafts, fine dining and theater. The also host monthly birthday parties for residents at the facility which they encourage friends and family to attend. The exercise center includes daily yoga and aerobics exercise classes. The equipment is available throughout the day and they also offer instruction on DVD. Residents can also safely navigate the lovely garden pathways and courtyards. The dining areas were nicely designed and warm. Residents may choose communal dining or more private situations. There are places for them to visit with families, as well. The food looked deliciously prepared, as well as nutritious. The dietician and chef changes up the menu to keep it interesting and encourage resident to make suggestions. The private living spaces featured beautiful windows with a fresh, airy and calming décor and very comfortable furnishings. The staff appeared to make every effort to ensure that the residents were both safe and comfortable in this living environment.
