My father-in-law was living at Friends House Retirement Community. They have all levels of care there. My father-in-law loved it there. It was a very good place. It's a lovely community. You can walk around the pond. It's a Quaker-based community, even though he wasn't a Quaker. They were thoughtful about other people, and very open. The communications were wonderful between the residents. The care my father-in-law got in assisted living was very good. I have nothing but good to say about it. They have daily activities and a daily newsletter that they pass out to each resident. They offer drinks and snacks in their rooms throughout the day. The residents can either stay in their rooms to eat or go down to the dining area. They have special music for people, and different activities in which they can participate. The food was good. My father-in-law ate well. They have older areas of the buildings that they're working on. They're building new cottages all the time.

Friends House Retirement Community is very quiet, and the main object is working outside with nature. Everything seemed to be wonderful and very agreeable. The rooms are very nice, and one side of the room goes out into a little garden, and the other side of the room goes out into the main building.

I had my mom there for six years , first independent living was great but expensive for what you get. The grounds used to be nice ,garden ,greenhouse pond. From the outside it is a nice setting. Inside the staff was rude ,getting the time of day or asking them to looking was not there problem. Ok independent living is just that but the idea of being in a community environment was what she wonted. So at first people look after each other that was almost perfect. But we found her several times with some bruise or cuts burnt pans. Next move they thought was best a place with in where she gets care and help with meds .That place we thought would be exactly that assisted care. But not so much as they have a no lift rule, You must eat in a table that is selected for you.My mom started to withdraw , fall end up being in her room setting in soiled clothing .Pills on floor rather than being taken. When she told us they moved the bell so she could not reach it the flags went up. It appears the head nurse had told the aids she has a diaper don't be bothered every three hrs . She can not walk, set up push herself in a chair and in pain a lot. Doc said hospice and moving her to last stage of nursing home was best. We had been asking for pain help for her for months so great. Hospice care came in they were great ,got her comfy ,morphine for pain and she was relaxed. We had to let go the three privet care givers we hired for her care and she trusted .This appeared to be the right move. and would save a bunch of money being spent. There is a list on nursing room so it was going to take a few weeks ,but head nurse started interfering with Hospice Care ,did not believe in morphine ,had a doc we don't know interfere with meds, aids ordered not to give anything but ibuprofen. Don't know what the heck she is thinking but what a problem for all. So we had to move her out and i do not recommend this Friends House to anyone unless its independent living where there is good activates events they can get themselves to. But then what ,when they can't ,its a bad environment with big turnover of help. Sorry it is hard to find care for are loved ones.

I visited this facility I visited an elderly woman in a nursing home once a month for four years. I thought that the staff did a great job but not so much it turns out. There is a big turnaround some complaints to state and some theft. Facilities, on the other hand, were not as great as others have said. The retirement interior is bleak, like a hospital. I think that some effort could make the place feel more homey.Good positive thing, is activities. The staff scheduled and planned various activities for the residents, such as a game day, movie showing, For the price and care you get plus the fact the staff is under paid over worked and the turnover forget this unless you can be in independent living.

I visited Friends House. It is connected with a rehab and long-term care facility. It was too expensive for me; I couldn't afford it. However, it was clean and nice. There were a lot of activities. There was a garden outside your porch, and you could tend to it if you want.

If I go anywhere, I will go to Friends House Retirement Community. The people there were very nice. There is a medical facility on the property, so if people need helped it is right there, which is nice, and their price was right. There is a theater in town which is very close to this facility and which is something I am interested in.

The staff who work at the Friends House Retirement Community were very nice and caring to the visitors and residents. The staff were friendly and helpful and always looked after the residents. The residents were well cared for and the amenities were above par. The staff would often have events for the residents to keep them occupied and to allow them to have fun. Such activities would include things like ice cream socials, bingo nights, and viewings of football games and other similar televised events. The residents seemed quite content and happy with the amenities, staff, and facilities. The facilities were well kept and clean. The facilities were well suited to dealing with many residents and had all the basic necessities as well as other things to accommodate residents with disabilities, such as ramps and elevators. Overall the experience I had as a visitor at the Friends House Retirement Community was very positive and I have no negative comments about it.

I visited an elderly woman in a nursing home once a month for two years. I thought that the staff did a great job. Whenever I saw them, it was because they were taking care of one of the residents. Facilities, on the other hand, were not as great. The retirement home looked kind of bleak, like a hospital. I think that some effort could have been taken to make the place look and feel more homey. Another positive thing about the home was activities. The staff scheduled and planned various activities for the residents, such as a game day, movie showing, having us visit, and having carolers sing for them near Christmas. Overall my time there was a good experience.

Overall, Friends House is a great facility. I was impressed with their attention to detail and their personal care they give to their guests. They are very professional and friendly and they offer great care giving. We looked at several places in the area and we were lucky to get a spot at this place. The staff is the best thing about this place…they really seem to take the time to get the know the guests, their needs, their likes, etc. I would recommend Friends House...it's a nice, quiet place and is what we were looking for. The care giving is excellent and the pricing is fair.
