I liked the Independence Court of Hyattsville. It was a nice and clean facility, and the staff was nice. They had a nice courtyard and they had activities. They had cookouts when the weather was nice, and it seemed like a nice place. The rooms were very nice, but they didn't have the little kitchenettes. You had to bring in your own mini refrigerator, microwave, and electric tea kettle. They had some rooms that weren't set up like the game room wasn't set up as a game room. One room was supposed to be a library that wasn't set up. I think they were in the process of adding some amenities, but they weren't quite added yet.

Independence Court of Hyattsville was OK. It was just average. There wasn't anything bad about it. The staff was OK. They were decent. The rooms were pretty good and they were all right. They were clean.

We chose Independence Court of Hyattsville for mom, because of its proximity to family and the affordability. Also, there are residents there that are acquainted with my mom. The staff has been very good. The facilities are very efficient and the place is very clean. They have a wide range of activities in assisted living like game show nights and stuff.

I like Independence Court of Hyattsville, but they didn't show us a one-bedroom apartment. It was very clean. The people were very friendly. They had a nice dining room, but I wasn't aware of the activities where they have bus trips. That was something I think made me lean towards the other place. They were very compatible with the place that my aunt is planning to move to, but the difference is they didn't have bus trips. The one that toured us was very nice. While I was waiting, the director came out and spoke with me, so they were all very friendly and very accommodating. The facility was very clean and very well kept. I didn't see anything that caused alarm.

Independence Court of Hyattsville was clean and had nice rooms, but their price was a little high. They did outings and other activities, like exercises. They had a community room, which is nice and big, with televisions and nice seats. The staff was nice and told me everything I need to know.

I had a good reference for Independence Court. The rooms were very nice and very comfortable, and it was a small group. The staff was very friendly and outgoing. It was a pleasant environment; it was home-like and had a nice living room. They had about six people, and they were all women that I saw. It was more of a family kind of thing, where they had six women and they were just there like a family.

I had been to Independence Court before and checked it out. I liked it, but didn't go there. I talked to them again and they said they would work with what my friend was getting as to his needs. He is really going into it now, moving around, talking to people, and not staying in his room. He has no complaints so far about the food or anything. The facility is clean. He has a private room and he likes it. I have not seen any negative attitude from the staff.

The residents were mostly happy to see us, but the staff was quite rude to us sometime. They may have thought that we kids were causing trouble. The facility was quite nice. The grounds were well maintained and the inside of the building was surprisingly clean and posh. The residents would play board games like checkers and backgammon with us. The girls in the class would attempt to make conversation with the residents by the boys were more interested in hanging out away from the elderly and talking among themselves. The boys would also make fun of the elderly residents upon returning to the school, which was right up the street from the assisted living center. The staff were fairly standard. They would provide beverages and food upon request to the residents, but their attitudes showed that they clearly did not want to be there and did not enjoy their jobs. Overall, the residents seemed content, but the staff left a lot to be desired.
