My parents have been living at Kensington Park for a year now. It's very beautiful and has three buildings of independent living, assisted, and memory care, which are all within walking distance of each other. It's a small, pretty community. They always have fresh flowers, and it's very well-maintained and clean. The staff is excellent and try very hard to be accommodating. Anytime we ask for a meeting, they try to set it up right away. When my father has had concerns, they've been addressed very quickly and promptly. The caregivers are really very caring and it seems there's very little turnover of staff. The food is great and there are always a couple of hot entrees and a lot of variety. There are lots to choose from and the desserts are delicious. There's always an opportunity to choose to have a sandwich or pasta. There are other options to choose from besides just the hot entrees that are listed, which is nice so people always have a fair amount of choice. In independent living, they have a library. They share some space with a middle school, so there's a shared track if the seniors want to get some exercise or fresh air. They have a fitness room, movies shown periodically, a rehabilitation center right there on the premises, and hair salons. My parents are in memory care. My mom has music therapy a couple of times a week and my father likes to go to a special group for men. My mom also has brain therapy which has helped her in speech and memory a little bit. My dad does bingo and trivia. They have a pretty good ratio of caregivers. They can focus more on exercise since it's really important for dementia. I would recommend this place to anybody.

When we visited Kensington Park everyone was warm, welcoming, and seemed genuinely interested in each other and in us. I would recommend it.

I visited Kensington Park and I thought that was the place of all for memory care, the reason being they had three separate buildings, one was independent living, one was assisted living and one whole building was just for Alzheimers/dementia resindents. Because they had the whole three floors for memory care so they split the first 2 floors with people with say moderate dementia or Alzheimers and the third floor was for the more advanced Alzehimers. That meant that the first 2 floors and the activity were less depressing because it didn't have the very advanced cases mixed in with the others. Also, the attention to the medical needs of the dementia patients seem the highest of all the places because they had actual medical doctors come in once a week. The quality of care seemed the highest for people with memory impairment. They had beautiful dining areas and apartments. Even though the building's not new, but different-shaped apartments, very comfortable facilities set in a residential area of Kensington Maryland next to homes and trees.

My mother has been in Kensington Park for eight months now. It is a very nice facility. The place is incredibly clean. The food and care are wonderful. They are all really amazing. The staff is very caring and very professional. She has a studio and it is spacious enough for her. They have a whole range of very nice and very good activities. My mother participates in them daily. They have exercise classes in the morning, current events and for a number of months, they have some people who come in to do art therapy with the residents. I think their best features are their staff, programming, the level of professionalism and cleanliness. It’s an amazing place just the way it is and I would recommend them to others.

My mother has been at Kensington Park a couple of weeks. I'm speaking specifically about the part of Kensington Park called the Grove, and that's the memory care. The reason I chose it is because there's a staffing ratio with 5 residents per staff member. Because they specialize in dementia care, the staff is all trained to provide that kind of care. They understand people's dementia and the kind of care they need. They were wonderful. Lots of activities to keep people engaged. I talked to family members before I chose this place, and they were all very, very positive about Kensington Park. My mother has her own room, which may be smaller than other rooms, and she has a bathroom. That's what was available. She's using their bed, but we moved in some of her own furniture, which was good. The rest of the facility is just beautiful. It has this Victorian look from the outside of it. It has a homey feel to it. The grounds are just lovely. They have plenty of areas for people to walk around. Someone will go with you outside if you want to go outside. I've been there a few times to have lunch with my mother and I think the food is really good. I like that the portions actually are not too big, which is important. A lot of seniors don't have huge appetites.

I'm definitely considering Kensington Park. They have activities all day long. I didn't see all the rooms. It depends upon the rooms, of course; the more money you spend, the bigger the room. The two rooms that we saw were way too small. The place is lovely to look at. It has nice grounds and everything. They seem to have a lot of activities and a lot of people there. But I was not thrilled with some of the rooms that I saw. Some that I liked were just priced way too high.

Kensington Park was what I had in mind for my husband and I had visited it several times. It was a beautiful environment. It was very comfortable, very sociable and well-staffed for Alzheimer's disease. The rooms were small but it was only necessary for them to sleep there other than that they were busy the whole day. The dining area was very nice. It was like a hotel. They had activities like word games. They had visitors coming in and they had programs. However, I had not experienced them and I could not give you a detailed list. The people that we know who were there which my husband would be involved with were all very busy and happy.

I just felt that Kensington Park has everything I need. I was happy with everything it was set up. It's only a couple of blocks from where my other daughter lives. My apartment has a bedroom, a nice kitchen, and has lots of windows. The people seem to be nice. I feel like I'd be in a good place. I'm a vegetarian and they've assured me I can eat vegetarian and I will have access to doctors and nurses all the time. I'm not sick and I will have different places to go. I'm looking forward to moving there. It's fairly close to Washington and they have a lot of activities that I think I'd be interested in.

When my father decided to move into kensington park i was very relieved that he went voluntarily and i can honestly say it was one of the best decisions he ever made. Every time i have visited him the residents seemed to be out and about which made the place seem very lively and thr residents seemed happy. I know the staff offers several activities for the residents which my father takes advantage of very often such as bingo and the book club. Finally i loved the location. The community is near many shops and stores so my father can have a sense of freedom despite the caring nature of the community.
