I went to Augsburg Village. It wasn't far from me, but I wasn't too thrilled with the facility. Their rates were exceptionally high. They have assisted living, nursing home care, and retirement living. In the assisted living area I was displeased because they needed to do some serious renovations and they were not very clean. There was an odor when you walked in, and a lot of the furnishings looked worn down.

My mother has been a resident of Augsburg Lutheran, and she's in their assisted living. I like the place. It's clean and doesn’t smell, everybody is caring, and the food looks and smells good. She has her own private room there. They have something going on every day of the month, and this Saturday they're having a Strawberry Festival. They'll have the kids down there, they'll be painting the kids' faces, and barbecuing. They also play scrabble, UNO, and they have spa days. They have something every day. The staff members are wonderful. They're patient, caring, and take the time to act like they're interested, so that's good. I haven't eaten the food, but it's presented in an appetizing way. They get breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. I like the layout of the place; it's well-maintained. They keep the residents active and busy, and there's always something to do. In terms of value, you pay for what you get.

My sister is in Augsburg Lutheran Assisted Living. She has to go down an elevator to get to the dining room, so she really doesn't see the people that sit at her table during the day. It's more like a dorm where there are quarters and private bedrooms. There is a nurse's station on the floor where she is and an aide is stationed on the wing where she is and that aide hands out medications. There is little contact among residents except for when they have a party or at mealtime. They're doing some renovating. They should have more gathering rooms where people could meet. They have a lot of activities and she takes part when they have music concerts or a monthly birthday party. They have bingo and Scrabble, too. It is very clean.

There's not much to tell about Augsburg Lutheran Home and Village. The only thing we saw was a one-bedroom apartment. The living room had a love seat with an end table on one side of it and a coffee table in front of it, and there was a TV, and that was it for the living room. Then, in the dining area, there was a round table and four chairs that took up the space. The bedroom was very small. I did not see many people about. They should have a large room where people can mingle because you need human companionship. The salesperson was not great at her job, but she did actually invite us to pick a time to come back and have lunch.

Augsburg Lutheran Assisted Living is a very caring facility, most of their patients are unable to do a lot on their own and need daily assistance with dressing, eating and just about everything else. My sister's nurses have been very patient and kind with my sister while she is going through this rough time in her life. Since my sister had her strokes she gets very angry and frustrated and the nurses understand that and don't patronize her at all. They generally seem to care much more about the patient here than many other places I have seen.Like most other facilities they provide all the basics such as 3 meals a day, all cleaning and activities. They seem to understand all the patients individual needs and tailor a support program specifically for them. In my sisters case there is very real hope that she will regain the lost mobility and speech so they work with her every day to keep her muscles loose and bring in a speech therapist 3 times a week. The staff and doctors I have seen are very nice and the facilities themselves are very clean and well kept. They have an onsite pharmacy and doctors on call so I feel assured that my sister will get the best attention she needs at this time. They also understand that while my sister needs a lot of therapy she also needs to relax so they have made her very comfortable making sure she has the niceties she likes and that she's able to watch her normal tv programs.

It is a great feeling to service the community and volunteer at Augsburg Lutheran Home , which provides care and support to the aged and old in need. Augsburg Lutheran is a home away from home with a lovely campus and provides all required facilities and comforts to its members. One can choose from garden apartments to studios with necessary household facilities. Its town center helps one to connect with its inner self and to get engaged in free leisure classes and activities. The Staff is very caring, responsible, helpful and supportive and members have 24 hour on call nursing staff by their side. Patience is one virtue a newcomer can learn at this home village. The meals provided are of high quality and there is abundant peace around for a healthy living. There are frequent physician visits and rehabilitative therapies. I suggest offering your services here if you want to bring a change and difference in lives of Augsburg families.
