We chose Regent at Burnsville for my parents because of the proximity of where it was located, the availability of a first-floor one-bedroom unit, and the staff that we worked with was extremely courteous and friendly. Their response time could be quicker though, but everybody's understaffed, so it's an understanding of why there's a delay in service. We've only had one person that was not friendly, but we haven't had her back since we let the staff know about our issues. The food is OK. It's not restaurant quality, but it's good portions and good food. They do bingo, bunco, and daily gatherings for women and men. I think the facility is very well maintained. They have a very nice exercise room, a barbershop, and a hair salon right on site. Everything is very clean and kept up well.

The person that we've been working with from Regent at Burnsville was very helpful, very knowledgeable, and very flexible on times and visitation. We've done multiple visits and they were very accommodating to us. It's our number one choice. The dining room was very small and was restaurant-like, but they had separate dining rooms so that you could dine privately with your family members or host a birthday party with them.
They had comparable amenities and activities. There's the game room, exercise room, card room, movie theater, library, and religious services. They have regular doctor visits, regular podiatry visits, and beauty care services that come in. That's a very convenient function for somebody that doesn't travel well. It is slightly expensive, but the grounds are fabulous because there's a walking path literally around the lake and a fountain in their private courtyard area. The rooms all had outdoor balconies, and half of the rooms that we looked at had outdoor screened-in porches facing the lake view or the fountain view. It is an older facility, but they're in the process of redecorating the entire building. It's our number one choice. The only problem is they don't have any openings.

Augustana Regent at Burnsville was the second highest as far as the cost went. The facility was pretty new. It has got some little shops in it like a barber shop, a beauty shop, a coffee shop, and a chapel. They also have computer rooms, and they have the emergency call pendants that are provided.

The food at Augustana Regent at Burnsville is good. The place is very nice, and we think it was a good fit for my mom. There are things for the handicapped. The bathroom is huge, and you could have a wheelchair in it. It is a very open bathroom. The staff is flexible depending on what your needs are. There are social things to do, music programs, and exercise programs throughout the day. You can see a lot of residents out and doing things. There's a really good force of nature there. As soon as we walked into it, we just knew that this was the place for her.

My mom is in Augustana Regent at Burnsville. It is wonderful and close to my house, so it is easy to go there and visit. My mom loves it there, and they know her byname. Down the road, if we need to, they offer elder care. She has a nice-sized apartment, and the food is incredible. They have bingo and movie nights on Fridays and Sundays with popcorn carts popping fresh popcorns. They even have happy hours on Fridays.

Augustana Regent was absolutely beautiful, but I think it’s for wealthy people. It’s a very elegant facility to the point of where I felt like I was in a fancy hotel. It was very elegant and very nice, and the director was wonderful and very helpful. They were very quick to respond and to answer any questions we had. It was just a little extravagant. When we walked in, there was a little waterfall. It was just a cost thing for us. It was not affordable.

I visited Augustana. It was probably the top community. It was independent living, and it was 55 plus and goes to memory care and so forth. It was wonderful if I could afford it.
They always returned my calls. I saw different rooms. The staff was wonderful. We ate dinner with the chef's service. They had a nurse on staff all the time, and a doctor came in. They had so many amenities if you needed them. However, they tend to be more like 70 to 80, and there was a wing for people that once their money ran out, they could share a room with someone else, and then the elderly waiver picked up the rest. They had tons of social recreations, but a lot of them were in wheelchairs, and they were too old to do them. They had an indoor old spa stuff to relieve your aches and pains. They would call you every morning to make sure you are alive.
They had 20 meals a month free, and most people took it at diner. They had a bus service, and for a 10-mile radius, it would cost you a dollar to go one-way. So, if you had to go to the doctor or grocery store and you didn't have a car, you could use that. There were people there who had their own car, and they had an underground garage. The only trouble was that it was expensive.

I thought Augustana was very nice. It was probably the apartment itself; the living space for the living room and the bedroom were rather small -- a little bit smaller than what we like -- but they had an oversized bathroom and kitchen space, which we thought was kind of a waste of space. That was the main reason why they didn’t choose it.
However, it was very nice, and all of the meals were included. They have probably a little bit more updated facilities. The staff has been very attentive and flexible. One of the things that were nice was their meals; they will pre-cut up the food to a smaller size that works better for my mom. She can chew it better. The location is more central.

We're moving my mom today to Augustana Regent. It was close to me and was highly recommended by some people at my church. There isn't a lot of turnover in the staff. She had ample space in her unit with a fireplace, a full kitchen and a screened in porch. It's a really beautiful facility. It has everything you can imagine like movies, sports, outings, exercise and bingo. I think the food is wonderful.

The atmosphere seemed very nice and calm. The facility seemed very clean, but more home-like than sterile. There was a nice walking path and the residents seemed to enjoy themselves. The only complaint from the person I visited was that the food could be better at times. Overall she said that she enjoyed the facility and was an active member in several activity groups on the grounds. She seemed to have many friends that she interacted with, which was one of the concerns when selecting a facility for her to stay in. She was particularly active in gardening and knitting, so it was nice to see that she made friends with similar interests. From my brief visit and interaction with a resident I would rate this facility highly. It seems cleaner, more welcoming, and more active than several other places that I have visited in the area and the residents seem to have a good opinion of the services provided. My girlfriend's grandmother made several new friends in the past several months that she has been staying at the facility, and I have heard no major complaints regarding her care.
