It has been a little bit since my mom moved into Brightondale Senior Community. It's a smaller facility, which is great because everyone gets to know her name. They have been very good at engaging her in any activities they have. She has been super happy, she loves it there, and I have nothing bad to say about it. She has lots of good things to say about the staff. They are very helpful and very nice, and everytime I talk to her she says, "Oh, it is so nice here, and they know my name." She is in a one-bedroom apartment. They have a shuttle that takes them to various appointments, they have scenic drives on Monday, they have religious groups, they have game groups like virtual vacations, and they have exercises. They have a salon and free laundry.

We chose Brightondale Senior Community, and my father-in-law will look at it next week to finalize the plans. We toured it in person. It's a great community, and part of the reason we went there is he lived in the attached senior living apartment, and liked the transition to familiar places and familiar staff. It's a smaller community, and so it's not a big, institutional, so many rooms, so many halls, everything, and we liked that it was very personal. The staff that we met were very good, they have a reputation for having longevity with their staff, and there's not a lot of turnover which is very important to us. They are slowly updating the rooms, and the one he is moving into is fully updated with a new kitchen, countertops, covered floor, and appliances. It's a 40-year old building, and before covid they were planning to update all the main shared spaces, they're now working on that, so it's not as updated as the shiny, new ones are, but they're planning to do that.

I very much enjoyed Brightondale. It would have been my very first selection, because of its proximity to where I work and where my sister live. I did bring my father there, and he liked it. However, he felt it was a little bit too far from his community and some of his church friends to come and visit. The staff was very open and honest about things. I felt very comfortable about it, and I thought that was very good for my father. There were people in the dining room, and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. I like that there were tables for 2 and tables for 4.

Besides the comfortable and clean settings in the building, what stands out the most is the kindness and the beautiful smiles i encountered with the most hospitable and outgoing pretty staff members!!! They make the difference.

My father-in-law ended up in Brightondale Senior Campus. They had the assisted living which is where he is at right now. They had independent-living which is where we started him out and they have memory care there, too. The staff was wonderful, great people. The room was very nice and had plenty of space. It was a 700 plus sq.ft. 1-bedroom; it was the biggest unit we had visited. The activity was great; he participated in a lot of them.

Everything in Brightondale was very nice. They didn’t take elder waivers, and we have decided to go against it. She’s got to find something where she can get an elder waiver. The staff was very good, and the dining room was clean and nice.

Brightondale is an older unit, but it is OK. The staff looked experienced and knowledgeable. The dining area and sanitation was pretty good. It is a very nice neighborhood.
