My cousin moved into Brookdale Inver Grove Heights. It's a very nice place. It's very small. I think they only have ten residents right now. It seems like the staff is not up to full capacity. Everybody's short-staffed right now. She doesn't like some of the staff because they're rough. Not rough with her, but blunt with her. She needs a lot of coddling. She's a very angry person, and she doesn't like anything. You kind of got to talk her through things, and I don't think they have the time to do that so she doesn't like some of them. Some of them are good with her. She doesn't like the food there. I'm sure the food is just fine, but it's just her taste that she doesn't like it. The rooms are small. They have a beauty shop and the kitchen/cafeteria area is right in the middle, so it's very accessible to all the rooms. It's very light and bright there. They have a person that comes around and does their nails for them. She doesn't go out of her room. So it's just hard to say what she does. I would like to see a weekly menu given to the residents so that they know what each meal is going to be. They have bingo, entertainment, and dogs that come to visit. They have all kinds of things, but she doesn't do any of them.

The lady at Brookdale Inver Grove Heights was nice and very helpful, and I enjoyed that experience. It's a very small place. The positive thing is if you're looking for a small community, that would be a good one. The facility is small as well. There's pluses to having a small facility where there's not so many people per attendant. The ratio is better because it's small. People get to know each other a lot more intimately that way. It seemed very clean, and people seemed generally very, very polite. They had events outside on the patio. They had gardening, activities, and games.

We toured Brookdale Inver Grove Heights. It is a nice homey little place. It's small, it's well kept up, and it looked nice, but we didn't like the industrial settings. The staff who walked us through was very good, very professional, and very informative. It's like a home with a lot of bedrooms. We kind of compared it to like a dorm where you've got your dorm room and then you've got a common area and a place to eat and socialize. We didn't see people out and about and socializing. We barely saw anybody besides the girl who walked us around. There was nobody around. The grounds were nice. The property itself was inviting but we didn't like the neighborhood. It doesn't seem like there's a lot of things going on for the residents.

Brookdale Inver Grove Heights is a nice little building. It's open, clean, has a nice atmosphere, and people are very friendly. It would be more suitable for a single person that is totally on their own, not for a couple. It's like a very small bedroom with no refrigerator, nothing that you can use to cook, unless you get yourself a little microwave.
They have an open dining room and a nice little back patio, but it does not offer a spot for private families. Their main visiting room is kind of like a living area, so they're not equipped for families who want to have private parties.
Parking was the very first thing that put me off when we went there. You drive in and it's just a tiny little parking lot, but they have explained that most of their people don't drive.
They said their food is made up of freshly made meals. They had lunch that day, it smelled very good, and I didn't hear anyone complaining about it.

I am in Brookdale Inver Grove Heights right now. It is a smaller facility that caters more to my liking. It is all one-level and the staff is very good; I feel that they are taking care of me. I am trying to fit in. It has been a month, and I think I am going to like it here. They have exercise, bingo, and other games. I haven’t seen them all yet, but they have a schedule of activities that you can follow and attend as you like. The food is very good. I don’t have anything really negative to say.

Brookdale Inver Grove Heights was a very nice, friendly, and small facility that was not overwhelming. The staff was very good; they took time with us and gave us the information that we needed. The room was nice and adequate.

Sterling House of Inver Grove Heights had what I needed for my father. We chose it because it was a smaller community and because of the location and the price compared to the others. It was very clean. He has only been there four weeks. Unfortunately, they were understaffed, but they were very caring. They treated my dad like a person, not a number. He used to be a chef, and he was very happy with the food. His room was a little on the small side, but it was enough for what he needed.

I visited Sterling House. The one who assisted was very helpful. The apartments were very nice. My dad wasn't really ready for that yet, but we took a tour of the whole place. The dining room was clean, nice, and inviting. I thought they had transportation to different places. I thought they had a library and movies there that you could watch. I liked that people were very nice, and the place was clean.

The care staff at this particular community are absolutely out of this world. They love the residents like their own family.

I very much liked that it is a quaint, home-like environment but has the ability and nursing to care for mom until end of her life.

A couple of most important things for my family as we look for my grandparents was level of care, price, and programs for residents to do. This place has it all!

I was told by the other assisted living that my sister was living in, that she would need skilled nursing. But the level of acuity is so high here at Sterling House that she can live here in a home setting and still receive heavy nursing care.

I am looking for future assisted living options for my wife and possibly myself, and I know that from what I've seen here at Sterling House, this is a place for us. The care staff is above and beyond.

Horrible. My great-grandfather has lived here for about 2 years and every day since has been horrible for him. It all started when he got in a car accident and his wife was killed. He's been in a downward spiral ever since. The room is just the right size for him but the carpet reaks of a strong urine odor and is very gross. The workers are incompetent and don't seem to care about the residents. They have meetings with the residents once a month to discuss some issues that they would like to have fixed and the workers don't seem to fix the problems. The food is horrible. The residents don't like the food and there is no fresh fruit for them to eat either. There is no sense of empathy for the residents and what they have been through or what they care about. At night there needs to be a lot more help. With only 2 people on staff it takes a long time to get 19 residents ready for bed and I understand that but we waited 2 hours for a worker to come in and I had to get her after we pulled the cord and she was sitting on her phone. Some of the workers are very rough with the residents and they get bruising from being yanked. Overall I would not recommend putting your realitives in this home.

My father is a current resident of Sterling House of Inver Grove Heights. It is a facility that is owned by Brookdale. We're really pleased with this place. What we really like is that there are only 19 residents there, so my father gets a lot of individual care. I've worked in long-term care for 27 years so I really wanted to find him something with smaller amounts of residents, so this place is working out very well for us. I ask my father every week how he likes it, he says it's okay, it is not home but it is okay. So that's a good thing. His room is just a typical room with a bathroom, a small refrigerator and a separate sink. It is small but it works for him. Another thing I like about Sterling House is that my father knows people there. There is a neighbor that lives there and another person there that he worked with, so there's nice socialization for him.
