At first the service was great, but as the number of patients increased staff did not increase accordingly. I was often left waiting for 15 minutes when I've hit the call button and have been left hooked up to IVs more than once to a point where I have to disconnect myself. It seems like they're more worried about their bottom line than they are about the patient. And the food is so so.

Mom lived here for many years without needing services & it was fine. However, medication service was missed & was never investigated, despite multiple requests. Med changes were not implemented on a timely basis. We requested nightly checks, but when I and my sisters or other caregivers stayed overnight, I found they were not being made. The onus was on us to figure out that the checks were not being made. Individual staff members were lovely, but the management had little empathy for mom or her family. The building was beautiful but has not been adequately maintained. Windows are drafty. The heating system breaks down repeatedly. Carpet & paint need to be re-done.

Walker at Westwood Ridge is fine, but their residents are mostly over 70. They have a lot of activities for the residents to do, and it seems like a good community. You get the services as you need them. If you need someone to help every once in a while, you just call them up and they come in. My sister was in the assisted living part for the first two weeks where someone came in every two hours, but now she's independent living in the same apartment where she calls when she needs help. They have bingo and movie nights, and their van takes them shopping once or twice a week and to the casino once or twice a month. They have a library where they can take the books out, a fitness center, a patio, a paved walking path around the complex, and a beauty salon.

They have a lot of activities and amenities, but I haven’t been able to try them all because I have only been here at Walker Westwood Ridge a few weeks. There are exercise rooms, there is a library, and there are movies, discussions and talks, games like Bingo and cards, and things like that going on. There is something going on all the time. The community here has been fine; it is very friendly. I go down for meals sometimes, and it is very easy to find someone to talk to.

Walker at Westwood Ridge is a complete community all the way from independent living up to memory care. It has a very good restaurant and a snack bar over at the second building that's open to any of the members here in Building 1. There's a nurse that checks on you every morning to make sure you're still alert and alive, and they will physically see you. We have a bus that takes us to shopping and grocery stores. We also do outings, like going to the casino every couple of months, and restaurant outings. The nurses are very attentive, the housekeeping people are very good, and maintenance is great.

My ex-husband has moved into Walker at Westwood Ridge. They had a room available right away. It was just 4 ½ miles from our church community in an area that he liked, and it had some nice woods and trees around. I’m a little disappointed that they haven’t made a greater effort to get him oriented into the community and to the dining room. They leave people on their own. I don’t think my ex-husband has even eaten in the dining room. Maybe they should offer a first meal in the dining room so people won’t be shy about being a part of that. They don’t have as many amenities as some places. He does have underground parking, and they have a person who’s in charge of the activities. He did go to a birthday party where they had a musician come, and I think he enjoyed that.

Walker at Westwood Ridge was very nice. It was fine. I think the residents were not bored, but they weren't that lively, either.

Walker at Westwood Ridge is a very pleasant looking place. It's very clean. We like it so far. The service is very good. My father-in-law has only been there for two-and-a-half months. They play bingo, puzzles, and different kinds of games. What impressed me most is the price and what you get for it. Compared to the other facilities, it's much better.

The facility at Walker is beautiful and looks very inviting. We were very disappointed with the nature of the care our father received. He was in severe pain and all they identified was his " behavioral" resistance. The treatment was to increase pain meds . It ended up that he had a severe staph infection which they totally missed. The goals set up were not established with any guidance or consultation from family and were skills that we had not seen in years. While they may have been workable for some with similar diagnoses, it was a set up for frustration and failure from the beginning. The access to staff to communicate was good. We were VERY disappointed at the narrow range of evaluating the pain behaviors and the lack of further evaluation in what ended up to be a critical situation. This lack of medical care was gross negligence from our perspective.

Mother was at Westwood Ridge before. It was really nice because they're also new. She had a large room. Half the time, there was only one or no staff. The most staff you'd ever see would be two. I suppose that's enough for them, but one of the men just wandered around constantly, and if you left the door open he'd just walk in and make himself at home, which irritated my mom. So she kept her door closed all the time, so he wouldn't come in. And they didn't have any locks on the doors, which was good. One time when I was there, they were out on the patio doing chair exercises. They always have jigsaw puzzles. Her room was kind of L-shaped, so she had room for her dining table with four chairs. She hds her TV, her chair, a dresser and bed, bathroom and a couple of closets. But she kind of doesn't need that stuff anymore. She never used them. She spends a lot of time out. They have one big room that has tables where they eat, and then there's a big fireplace, a piano, and a 70-inch TV. There are several different areas where you can sit by the fire, sit by the piano, or by the TV. It was a big community room.
