My mom had stayed at Ashley Gardens. The only problem was that it was $7,300 a month, and if she ran out of money, they would not take Medicaid. The owners had told people, and people told me, that if she ran out of money or ran low, then they would try to take care of things. So, when I finally put it through to the director there, and I said "Okay, when she does run out of money, she's only going to have maybe $500 out of social security each monthly. Is that going to be enough to pay for her stay there?" Their answer was "No," and my response was "I had to get her out of here as fast as I can while she still have some money left." That place was not full because it was so expensive. It wasn't that the help there was bad. The one thing that I disapproved of is that they only have 2 bathrooms for 9 people. They had to share common bathrooms, and that was not good because I tell you what would happen. When somebody catches something, everybody catches it, just like she was in there for about a week, then all of a sudden she had yellow minkies on her eye and everything. She never had any eye problem. When I said something to them, they said "Oh well, a couple of other people have that too. It's probably due to allergies to pollens outdoor." They were not going outdoors. It was a sealed room and everything. When somebody caught something and they had a common bathroom, it just spread to everybody. They were saying that patients tend to fall down in going to their own bathroom. With the common bathroom, there could be help there to help them and cut down their odds of falling down. I don't believe that.
