We toured Blue Haven Adult Family Home. We knew at that point that my father-in-law probably would not be moving from where he was just because of his condition, although the original intent was to see if there was another place for him. We also recognized that his wife would need to make some sort of change. We don't know what that is yet, but we figured we investigate for her as well. So, we visited their assisted living facility and their memory care. It's a single home with bedrooms. For a facility of that fashion, it looked very nice. It looked like everybody was being taken care of and the basic needs of everybody were being addressed. If you're looking for a small, intimate, probably a high level of care support, that would be a good place to be. Everything is very close. You're living in a home, so you don't have a long walk to the kitchen or to visit or watch TV. It's just like living at home, that to me is the amenity. You walk out and you're in the kitchen or you're at the dining table or you're in the living room and your bedroom just steps away. To me, it was more of any individual's taste. If they want to be at home, Blue Haven would be a good place. I don't have any direct experience, but I sense is that probably the amount of time staff has to spend with any individual is much higher because the ratio of staff to residents is probably fairly high. Everybody is very close to each other, and you have people that lived once or reside onsite. So, even though they may rotate, there are people on site all the time. They took precautions as visitors came to make sure we were vaccinated, and they did a temperature check, that kind of thing. That's a novel experience with COVID. As a living home establishment, and on its own little category, I'd probably give them a five. It looked wonderful. However, when I look at it in terms of in comparison to other bigger communities, because they are not as big, it's not quite as attractive, at least for me. In Blue Haven, I think, it's like you get a room and then you if you were happy with it, you would stay in that room till the end. They kind of come to you in the room because you're in a house. They have memory activities in the morning when they get up and do things.

My grandmother has been in Blue Haven for one month. It's wonderful, and I love it for her. It's a very updated, completely renovated home, and all of the rooms are private. The staff is very kind, very knowledgeable, and very helpful. They can accommodate six residents, and it has a monthly flat rate.

My husband is now in Blue Haven Adult Family Home. It is in a good location. We are happy with it. The staff members are good and attentive. My husband was in about three different nursing homes, but this is much better care. They come right away when he pushes his button. They serve three meals a day and have good cooks who provide good foods. The price seems to be comparable, but they don't take Medicaid.
