About This Community

From independent living to full-time memory care and short-stay respite care, COGIR at the Narrows is a safe, warm atmosphere designed specifically to offer comfort and stimulation to residents with Alzheimer's disease or other types of dementia.

Residents are gently guided toward daily success through secured perimeters, walking paths, wayfinding cues and other interactive areas. One noticeably different feature from what is usually found in memory care communities is your loved one is free to walk everywhere within the secured confines of the property including our large, secure outdoor spaces that give residents unobstructed access to experience nature.

Other signature interactive areas include our country kitchens where residents can enjoy a cup of coffee or help prepare a meal, living rooms designed for relaxation, visits with family, and participation in group activities, and reflection rooms featuring soft lighting, soothing music, and other relaxing elements. There's even a resident cat or dog to love. COGIR at The Narrows also offers life skill stations, where residents can revisit fond memories of life events like weddings, babies, and even veteran memorabilia.

In addition, COGIR at The Narrows offers hospice services on an as-needed basis.

I took a tour for my mother, and they were very accommodating. The rooms were very nice. The staff was also very nice and very accommodating. I didn't really see many activities, it was still in COVID time, and they hadn't opened up much of their stuff at the time that I went. When we visited, the dining room wasn't even open, but it is now. The facility was very clean. I didn't see a residential outdoor area, but the grounds were very lovely, and we are familiar with that area because my mother doesn't live far from there. The residents seemed to be very happy and engaged.

My cousin will be moving into a totally new place that no one else has been in. It has just been renovated. They have lots of activities like music and ice cream socials. They have heavy care, which is what my cousin needs. You get to eat anywhere and anytime you want. They also provide transportation. The person who toured us was very inviting, warm, knew the residents by name, and seemed to be very knowledgeable, helpful, and caring.

It is a really nice place. I have only been there and visited my ex-husband twice, and that was when he was moving in. They seem to be dealing with him just fine. He has memory issues and behavioral issues, and they seem to be handling everything very well. My daughter is really pleased with the place. They seem to be a very caring group of people. He has to have somebody come and give his medication every day. I did notice that they have two cafeterias or eating places. One of them is more of a formal setting, and the other one was more casual so that is kind of nice. Everything I heard so far since he has been there has been really exceptional. I was impressed, and I will live there because I think it is a nice place. It is in a good location in a very nice neighborhood, and he has a very nice view of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. I think it is probably one of the better places around in our area anyway.
