My mother has been in Parkside Retirement Center for a while now. She's established and she is doing quite well. She moved in on September 15th. They have parking for residents that have vehicles. The staff seemed helpful and she has every kind of service that she could need right there. She has people to regulate her medications. They have service that comes in the room and takes care of garbage and empty that. There is a laundry room on the premises that they can do laundry for free. They have three square meals a day. She has her dog with her, and the one main important part of finding a place for her was some place that's going to take her dog. She is doing quite well, and she seems a lot happier. The room depends upon how much you're paying for, and it's adequate for what she needs. It has its own sliding glass door so she has access to go outside for her and her dog. It has a bathroom that has a nice wide walk-in shower and the doors are nice and wide for people that need wheelchairs. It has a small refrigerator and a microwave. They have a big giant room that they use for activities. They have puzzles, board games, cards, exercises with free weights, and shopping trips to the grocery store once a week when they need it. They're quite close to a park so they could walk and enjoy a baseball game. It's an older facility, but it served its purpose and for the amount of money that they're asking, it's within her financial reach. It's not bad, but it's not great. She's only about a 10-minute drive from her daughter and her son.

My in-laws are in Parkside. It’s an older building but the rooms are of nice size and they’ve got plenty of room. It’s very homey and the people there are friendly. She likes to get her hair done and go shopping. They’ve got activities there but they don’t seem to get out too much. The staff is very friendly. They seem to know what they’re doing and they take care of my in-law’s needs.

A friend of mine stayed at Parkside for a couple of years. It was a fairly nice facility. The people were friendly. It was a single floor arranged in priority. The closer you were to the central area, the more critical your care need was and for those who needed the least care, they were the farthest away. They had a cafeteria there and a few activities for the seniors.
