I toured Mount St. Vincent, there’s a beautiful view, and there’s a great feeling of love and care that goes along with expertise. It’s an older building, but it’s very well-kept and managed that it felt very comfortable and very cozy. The staff was very attentive. The food was quite good; it’s not gourmet, but of good selection. It was always available round the clock, in addition to the 3 meals. They have an in-house day care center in addition to the excellent inter-generational activities.

We visited Mount St. Vincent (Providence Mount St. Vincent). It is a Catholic facility. They are higher-priced but don’t add on for everything. If you want medication management, they’ll do it. If you need somebody to come in and check on you, somebody comes in and does that. If you need assistance showering, somebody comes in and does it. There isn't a fee for everything. They also have a skilled nursing facility there. If something were to happen, they said that the residents that are living there have priority to move into the skilled nursing facility. It felt like if my father moved in there, he would be taken care of no matter what. We looked at a large studio, and my dad thought it was good.

We selected Mount St. Vincent Providence a couple of months ago for my mother-in-law and we're extremely satisfied. She was 97 and died two weeks ago. We were only blessed with only two months of excellent care at Mount St. Vincent. I can't tell you in detail, it will be too long, but they were excellent and outstanding. It takes only twenty minutes to drive there. They were outstanding when she went there and she became a Medicaid patient one week before she died. They have physical therapists getting her up on her walker. They have 20 units on a floor that they called a neighborhood. They have a supervisor that's looking after those 20 and they have available nurse practitioners on duty at all times. They also have a very highly regarded cardiologist doctor in Seattle who's the physician. They had a speech therapist to look after her. One thing that impressed me very much was they had a common room with the patients and the residents where they could eat and assemble around the television. The kitchen was on the south side of that. And at the north side was the nurses' station and the nurses were there at any given time if they were needed because they did all their nursing book work or computer work right within the stations. They have apartments for the people who are able and high functioning. They have assisted living and then they have more care intensive units as well. After a week and two days after she died, they scheduled a candlelight ceremony with all the staff, including the people who serve in the kitchen, and there were some of the patients and residents gathered to celebrate her being there. They were really very caring.

This facility offers services ranging from independent living to nursing care. The environment is warm and friendly with well-prepared staff who are compassionate and caring. Staff appear happy and to enjoy their work and staff turnover is low, resulting in consistency of care for your loved one and opportunity for families to connect and be part of decisions. Care is resident AND family centered. New ideas are constantly generated for strategies that will make life better for residents. The nursing care `neighborhood' that my mother lives in is amazing -- with a nurse coordinator who listens to my mother and to her family, and staff that is not only well trained and educated, but also caring and consistent. I can't say enough about this facility. I will certainly consider it when it is my time to make decisions about where I will spend the final days of my life.
